The Georgetown Hoyas bounced back in a big way from some early Big East struggles, racing away from St. John's with an 18-0 first-half run and a strong second half to win, 69-49. The Hoyas moved to 14-3 and 4-2 in the Big East, snapping a two-game losing streak with the win.

The game was close in the second half, but Georgetown left no doubt late, closing the game on a 21-4 run to turn a close game into a rout. Hollis Thompson hit five second-half three-pointers and finished with a team-high 20 points, while Jason Clark added 15 points. The Hoyas' defense was stingy, holding the Red Storm to 33-percent shooting.

Despite shooting 31 percent from the floor, the Georgetown Hoyas lead the St. John's Red Storm 25-19 after one half at Madison Square Garden. The Johnnies played zone for much of the first half and the Hoyas struggled from outside, hitting only two of nine attempts from behind the arc. Georgetown pounded the offensive glass with a big lineup to clean up the missed shots on the glass. Freshman Otto Porter was big off the bench, grabbing seven rebounds and adding six points in relief. Porter grabbed four offensive boards and Greg Whittington grabbed three on the inside of St. John's zone. That work on the glass led to an 18-0 Hoyas run that built up the six point halftime lead.

Jason Clark led the Hoyas with seven points, while Hollis Thompson was 0 for four from long range and has yet to get on the board. St. John's wing player Moe Harkless led the Red Storm with 11 points.

After nearly a week off, the Hoyas are looking to rebound from back-to-back conference losses.

The No. 19 Georgetown Hoyas (13-3, 3-2 Big East) will look to right the ship Sunday afternoon when they face the St. John's Red Storm (8-8, 2-3) at Madison Square Garden. After winning 11 games in a row, the Hoyas have dropped tow straight conference games, and hope to avoid a three game losing streak as conference play heats up.

Georgetown dropped a 74-62 contest to West Virginia last Saturday in Morgantown, but even more troubling was the 68-64 home loss to Cincinnati on Wednesday night in which the Hoyas turned the ball over 17 times and made just one field goal in the game's final six minutes.

Georgetown and St. John's have split their last six meetings, with the home team winning each matchup.

The Georgetown Hoyas (13-3, 3-2 Big East) look to snap a two-game losing streak when they take on the St. John's Red Storm (8-8, 2-3) Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.

The Georgetown Hoyas (13-3, 3-2 Big East) look to snap a two-game losing streak when they take on the St. John's Red Storm (8-8, 2-3) Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden. Tipoff is scheduled for 12:00 noon ET, and the game can be seen on MASN and ESPN3.

The No. 11 Hoyas had won 11 straight games before suffering back-to-back conference losses to West Virginia last Saturday (74-62) and Cincinnati on Wednesday (68-64). The loss to the Bearcats was particularly deflating, as the Hoyas turned the ball over 17 times, including seven times in the final few minutes, and made just one field goal in the last six minutes of the loss.

The up-and-down Red Storm are led by freshman guard D'Angelo Harrison (15.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg) and freshman forward Moe Harkless (15.4 ppg, 8.4 rpg). Harkless is currently the leader in the clubhouse for Big East Freshman of the Year.

The Hoyas and Red Storm have split their last six meetings, with the home team winning each contest. This year, St. John's is 0-6 against ranked opponents, the worst mark in the country.
