The Georgetown Hoyas played one of their worst games of the season and still came away with a victory. They trailed unranked Rutgers late at home, but rallied for a 52-50 win thanks to freshman Otto Porter, who scored the final six points of the game, and stifling defense late.

The Hoyas trailed by five points with two and a half minutes remaining after an Eli Carter three-pointer, but rallied to take the lead. Henry Sims hit two free throws, and Porter scored four points, two on a fast-break layup and two on a leaner to tie the game with just over a minute remaining. The Hoyas forced a Rutgers miss on the next possession and got two free throws from Porter after he was fouled off the ball to take the lead with 8.5 seconds left. Rutgers' last chance ended when Carter missed a runner at the buzzer.

Georgetown won despite shooting just 29 percent from the field, including 4-20 from Sims, Jason Clark and Hollis Thompson.

All things considered, the Georgetown Hoyas are probably lucky to be down by just five points to Rutgers at home on Saturday afternoon. Georgetown shot a horrid 3-24 from the field in the first half and trail, 25-20, at the Verizon Center.

Really, it's been an all-around horrible shooting effort. The only three field goals came on a dunk by Hollis Thompson, a hook shot by Henry Sims and a jump shot by Otto Porter. Otherwise, the Hoyas have missed everything, with Jason Clark and Markel Starks not hitting a shot. The only reason this game is close is that the Hoyas have shot 14-18 from the free-throw line.

The No. 12 Georgetown Hoyas (15-3, 5-2 Big East) welcome the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (11-8, 3-3) to the Verizon Center Saturday afternoon, looking to maintain home dominance over their conference foe.

The No. 12 Georgetown Hoyas (15-3, 5-2 Big East) welcome the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (11-8, 3-3) to the Verizon Center Saturday afternoon, looking to maintain home dominance over their conference foe. The Hoyas are 17-2 at home against Rutgers all-time, and have won nine straight games against the Scarlet Knights at home by an average of 13.9 points. The last Rutgers win in Washington, D.C. occurred in December of 1998.

The Hoyas will have their hands full, however, with this year's Scarlet Knights team. Rutgers has already toppled two Top 10 teams this season, defeating then-No. 10 Florida 85-83 in double overtime in December and also taking down then-No. 8 Connecticut 67-60 two weeks ago. Rutgers is looking for its fourth win in its past five games.
