I'm really not sure what to think of these "Just Hewitt" shirts that George Mason handed out on Saturday, in reference to their new head coach. On one hand, I love puns. On the other hand, these are kind of lame.

(via @MasonMBB and Dan Steinberg).

All that said, I am sure that seeing soon-to-be-retiring University president Alan Merten hanging out with the Green Machine pep band is awesome. This picture is my favorite in the Flickr photo set from John Powell.

George Mason entered the game against the James Madison Dukes looking to pick up their sixth win in a row and were able to hold on at the end to do so, picking up the 89-79 victory. The Dukes rallied back in the second half after trailing by just two points at halftime, but even with Humpty Hitchens putting down 27 points and seven assists, it just wasn't enough to keep up with the Patriots. Andrey Semenov also added 15 points and eight rebounds.

For George Mason, forward Ryan Pearson had a big afternoon putting down 29 points and 15 rebounds to pick up a double-double. Guards Byron Allen and Vertrail Vaughns each picked up 14 points in the victory as well, despite the fact that no one could really get much going from the three-point line.

George Mason has won five straight games and they're looking to make it six in a row against the James Madison Dukes. The Patriots hold a two-point lead, 43-41, at halftime and are heading for that victory if they can hold steady. In order to hold on however, George Mason are going to need to slow down James Madison's Humpty Hitchens, who's picked up 17 points alone in the first half. Hitchens has also picked up three rebounds and four assists, while Devon Moore has picked up seven points in the first half.

For George Mason, they've been able to hold the lead thanks to the play of Ryan Pearson and Bryon Allen. Pearson picked up 13 points with two rebounds and two assists while Allen picked up 10 points in the first half. George Mason has gotten some help from their bench as well, picking up a combined 12 points and six rebounds from their reserves.
