In addition to the Gators, the 6-foot-4, 310-pounder had narrowed his list to the Georgia Bulldogs, Ole Miss Rebels, Southern Cal Trojans and Wisconsin Badgers, where his former teammate, quarterback Danny O'Brien, recently transferred. It was rumored Georgia was the early front-runner for Garcia, as the lineman is from the Peach State.

Former Maryland Terrapins offensive lineman Max Garcia was granted permission to transfer from the school earlier this spring to be closer to home, and it appears the 6-foot-4, 310-pounder will have a decision soon after wrapping up visits to five schools: Georgia, Florida, Ole Miss, Southern Cal and, this weekend, Wisconsin. Via Michael Carvell of the Atlanta Journal Constitution:

Max Garcia, one of the nation's most heavily-recruited football transfers, told the AJC that this weekend's visit to Wisconsin and he'll announce his college choice within the next couple of weeks.

"It will be before May," Garcia said.

Terrapins fans may be suffering from deja vu, as it wasn't too long ago former Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien transferred to, you guessed it, Wisconsin. Could a reunion of lineman and quarterback be in the works?

Former Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien will transfer to the University of Wisconsin. O'Brien picked the Badgers over Penn State and Ole Miss. The news was first reported by Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee-Wisconsin Journal Sentinel Badgers Blog and later confirmed by the university in a statement.

O'Brien seemed to have been blown away by his visit to the Wisconsin campus and really connected with Badgers head coach Bert Bielema and new offensive coordinator Matt Canada. A transfer like this helps the Badgers as they currently only have two healthy quarterbacks on their roster during spring practice.

Because O'Brien is on track to graduate early from the University of Maryland, he will be eligible to play right away for the Badgers and has two years of eligibility remaining. This is not the first time Wisconsin has benefited from this rule, last year quarterback Russell Wilson transferred to the Badgers and played right away, leading the Badgers to a Big 10 championship and a trip to the Rose Bowl.

An article of clothing isn't necessarily an indicator of what college a person will pick. If you don't believe us, you can ask the dozens of T-shirts and sweatshirts we have languishing in various drawers.

But when you're a sought-after pro-style quarterback making a second visit to a school (going even so far as to watch football practice), donning the gear of that particular school can easily be taken as a sign that your decision-making process is near an end.

So, with that in mind, I give you: Danny O'Brien, Penn State Nittany Lion?

Former Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien visited Penn State for the second time on Monday. According to Ron Musselman of StateCollege.com, O'Brien watched the Nittany Lions practice on Monday.

Earlier in March, Penn State confirmed that it was one of the schools on O'Brien's radar after he was granted his release from Maryland. O'Brien also visited Mississippi State, and had other schools interested.

O'Brien would compete in spring practices with Matthew McGloin, Rob Bolden and Paul Jones for the team's quarterbacking job.

Last season, O'Brien threw for seven touchdowns and 10 interceptions for the Terrapins, piling up 1,648 passing yards in the process. He was granted his release from the Maryland program after wrapping up his undergraduate program there. According to NCAA rules, he is free to transfer to any school with a graduate program while using up his remaining eligibility.

While a decision by former Maryland quarterback Danny O'Brien has not yet been done, an article by Dustin Hockensmith of The Patriot-News in Pennsylvania states that the Penn State Nittany Lions could be a possible destination for the quarterback.

Part of the reason why O'Brien could go do Penn State is that first, the Nittany Lions run a pro-style offense that O'Brien could run well. Second, new Penn State head coach Bill O'Brien is a former protege of former Maryland head coach Ralph Friedgen so his style could fit well with Bill O'Brien. Third is that the time Bill O'Brien spent mentoring Tom Brady as an assistant of the New England Patriots.

For a while now Vanderbilt has been considered the favorite for Danny O'Brien to continue his career after transferring from the University of Maryland. But the pending investigation against James Franklin and the University might give him some pause, and all we really know is that he wants to go to a Power Conference. Enter Oklahoma State, the topic of some new rumors. SB Nation has the source of the rumors, and why they may make sense.

It's a fine pairing to consider, as OSU has to replace veteran starter Brandon Weeden, and O'Brien fared much better in the less-conservative Maryland offense of his freshman year. O'Brien could play right away too, so long as he enrolled in a graduate program that Maryland doesn't have.

After watching O'Brien flounder in the Gary Crowton offense it would be fun to watch him play in a system that allows him to throw the ball all over the field. On the other hand, he could put up big numbers and that would look pretty bad for the Terps who benched him last season.
