After winning MLS Player of the Week honors three times while a member of D.C. United in 2011, Dwayne De Rosario has earned the prestigious honor for the first time in 2012.

The North American Soccer Reporters organization gave De Rosario the honor for the 10th time in his MLS career, which matches DeRo with Edson Buddle, Cobi Jones, and Ante Razov for third-most on MLS' all-time list.

De Rosario scored three goals in the Black-And-Red's two home matches this past week. He opened the scoring in United's 2-0 win over the Colorado Rapids Wednesday and added two more on the 3-1 win over Toronto FC on Saturday.

De Rosario now has five goals in 2012, tied with Chris Pontius for second-most on the team behind Maicon Santos. The Canadian international's seven assists are by far the most on the club, with Nick DeLeon and Brandon McDonald a distant second with three apiece.

D.C. United's season resumes on Saturday with a match against the New England Revolution at RFK Stadium. Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m.

D.C. United took advantage of cellar-dweller Toronto FC at home on Saturday night in impressive fashion, 3-1. United have now won five of their last seven games.

United easily disposed of bottom-dweller Toronto FC on Saturday night, as the game was never in doubt. I'm not sure United could have asked for a better start to the game. After Dwayne De Rosario's first minute goal, United remained in control for most of the game. Outside of Toronto's goal, they barely saw the ball as United had 60% of the possession.

Match Ratings:

GK - Bill Hamid - 8.5

Hamid was superb for most of the evening. It's honestly tough to even place any blame on him for the goal. Brandon McDonald and Perry Kitchen were to blame for Danny Koevermans getting in position to beat Hamid. Hamid's fantastic form continued against Toronto, and while he didn't get the clean sheet, he did everything in his power to do so.

D - Chris Korb - 7.5

I haven't been too high on Korb so far this season, however, this was easily his best game of the season. Korb was all over the field, and managed to pick up an assist on a phenomenal run down the right flank before sending in a great cross to Dwayne De Rosario.

D - Brandon McDonald - 6

McDonald was guilty on the goal, as he was covering Koevermans. McDonald did a decent job defending outside of the goal. He had a few clearances and did well in the air.

D - Daniel Woolard - 7

Wasn't responsible for the goal, but didn't stand out. I guess in defense, that's a good thing. I feel like we say this every week, he was solid, but unspectacular. Woolard has played very well after transitioning to the center of the defense, and once he moved back outside after Danny Cruz was injured, he performed well there too.

D - Andy Najar - 8

Najar played well in the right back spot to start the game, but once Danny Cruz went out Najar went in to a different gear. He was attacking the defense non-stop. His run to the end-line that led to Hamdi Salihi's goal was phenomenal. Hopefully this will lead to more Najar in an attacking role. Or just transitioning the team to a 3-5-2 or 3-4-3 like they were playing for long portions of the evening.

M - Perry Kitchen - 7

Kitchen had another strong performance clearing up everything in the back. He did miss out on some help on the goal, but did well throughout the goal and broke up a big attack by Toronto.

M - Branko Boskovic - 7.5

Boskovic has really stepped his game up in the two games this week. Boskovic's service is unparalleled on this team right now, at least as far as corners, crossing and long balls are concerned. His direct free kicks are still so-so, but his pinpoint placement on De Rosario's header in the first minute was phenomenal.

M - Danny Cruz - Incomplete

Cruz left in the 22nd minute with a hamstring injury and will have an MRI to determine the severity. Was running with solid pace before the injury occurred.

M - Dwayne De Rosario - 9.5 (Man of the Match)

I know, total shocker that DeRo is MOTM. Two goals, and some phenomenal skill on the ball throughout the game. Another great night for the reining MVP.

F - Josh Wolff - 6

I don't know how to grade Josh Wolff, mostly because I don't know exactly what position he was attempting to play all night. After Jakovic came on, there were times where it looked like Wolff moved to the Left Midfield or even Left Back spot with his positioning. It wasn't a bad performance, but he didn't add much to the attack.

F - Hamdi Salihi - 7.5

This is more a reflection of him not adding a second on a few easy chances. Salihi poached a goal in the 73rd minute after disappearing for most of the second half. He didn't disappear after that as he had two easy shots on net and was saved on one and whiffed on the other.

Subs:

D - Dejan Jakovic - 7

Jakovic looked good in the back tonight. His presence in the back allowed United to play a hybrid 3-5-2/3-4-3 with Chris Korb pressing up into the midfield at times.

M - Marcelo Saragosa - 5.5

Saragosa kept up the attack when he was in the game, and took over set piece duties when he replaced Boskovic.

M Stephen King - Incomplete

King came on for Najar for the final seven minutes and change.

D.C. United won their fourth game in six and kept Toronto FC winless and pointless as the Black-and-Red made out with a 3-1 win Saturday night at RFK Stadium.

After trailing, 2-0 at the break, the visitors got back in the match in the 71st minute when second-half substitute Danny Koevermans prodded a Julian de Guzman free kick past an onrushing Bill Hamid to cut Toronto's deficit to 2-1.

But D.C. United responded less than two minutes later after strong work by both Dwayne De Rosario and Branko Boskovic to both win and keep the ball in Toronto's half. The ball eventually came to Andy Najar, who jinked his way to the end line and crossed to the center of the six-yard box. Hamdi Salihi was waiting and he popped the ball into the net.

United conclude their three-game homestand with a match against the New England Revolution on Saturday, May 26. Kick-off is at 7:30 p.m.

Dwayne De Rosario has scored twice against his former club as D.C. United leads Toronto FC, 2-0 at halftime at RFK Stadium.

The Canadian international put the home side in front just 57 seconds into the match after he headed home a Branko Boskovic free kick from close range. The goal was the fourth-fastest in D.C. United's history.

De Rosario doubled United's advantage in the 43rd minute, when he somehow went unnoticed by the entire Toronto defense and redirected a cross from Chris Korb into the net from close range.

But it wasn't all good news for United in the first half, as Danny Cruz left with an apparent hamstring injury. He was replaced by Dejan Jakovic, which prompted Andy Najar to move to right midfield, Korb to right back, and Woolard to left back.

D.C. United looking for its fourth consecutive home win.

Toronto FC (0-8-0) comes into RFK Stadium on Saturday night to face off against D.C. United (6-4-3), a club that has won three consecutive Major League Soccer matches. DCU defeated the Colorado Rapids by a final score of 2-0 in their last match Wednesday, and now sit just one point behind the New York Red Bulls for the top spot in the Eastern Conference.

TFC, who set a league record to start the season with eight consecutive losses, was able to scratch out a 1-1 draw against the Vancouver Whitecaps in the first leg of the Canadian Cup Championship on Wednesday. During non-league play, Toronto has notched two wins and three draws against Major League Soccer competition and hope to carry that momentum back into league play against DCU, whom they faced in their last MLS match earlier this month.
