Capitals Hand Predators Their First Loss Of 2010

Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Brooks Laich's power-play goal 1:44 into overtime gave the Washington Capitals a 3-2 win over the Nashville Predators at Bridgestone Arena.

Alex Ovechkin, who drew a tripping penalty against Nashville defenseman Ryan Suter in the extra session, fired a slap shot from the point that Laich deflected over Predators goaltender Anders Lindback.

The Capitals erased a two-goal deficit with third-period tallies from Alexander Semin and Tomas Fleischmann. Michal Neuvirth made 37 saves as Washington won its fifth straight game against Nashville.

J-P Dumont and Jordin Tootoo lit the lamp for the Predators, who suffered their first loss after beginning the season with three straight wins.

Lindback stopped 31 shots.
