The Penguins' Winter Classic Jerseys Are Ugly

New, 2 comments

When the Washington Capitals play the Pittsburgh Penguins at Heinz Field on January 1 in the 2011 NHL Winter Classic, it will be an epic battle of good vs. evil, fun vs. boring, interesting vs. dull, personable vs. robotic and all those good things. (Sorry, guys, just trying to rile the Penguins up).

Now, we know it will also be a battle between attractive vs. ugly. That's because the Penguins' Winter Classic jerseys have been released and ... well, just take a look for yourself. They're navy blue, with a light blue outline on white lettering, and they have some old classic Penguins logo in the middle. Because if there are any color that define Pittsburgh, it's dark blue and light blue.

Samuel Chamberlain at TBD agrees. Here's how he described the jerseys:

It looks too much like a rugby shirt your mother made you wear on the first day of school, especially the trim on the forearms.

My mom never made me wear a rugby shirt on the first day of school, but ... sure.
