The Capitals got off to a slow start in Calgary on Halloween Eve, but that didn't last long.
After falling behind by two goals in the first 12 minutes of the game, the Capitals have since responded with seven straight scores.
Nicklas Backstrom starting the scoring with under five minutes remaining in the first period. Backstrom scored on a power play with assists from Mike Green and Brooks Laich to narrow the Flames' lead to one.
The Capitals kicked off the second period with a heavy dose of Alexander Ovechkin. The captain scored two goals just 12 seconds apart to give Washington the lead. The Capitals haven't looked back since.
Mike Green, Matt Bradley, and Alexander Semin all added goals within the next ten minutes of action. And then, just for extra measure, David Steckel converted a short-handed goal to extend the lead to 7-2. Not only has the Capitals' penalty kill been outstanding once again, but they're scoring on their own too.
