Calgary, AB (Sports Network) - Alex Ovechkin scored a pair of goals and dished out an assist, as the Washington Capitals used a six-goal second period to dominate the Calgary Flames, 7-2, at the Saddledome.
Nicklas Backstrom had a goal and three assists for the Capitals, who have won three of four. Mike Green and Alexander Semin each recorded a goal and two helpers.
Michal Neuvirth made 27 saves in the victory.
Curtis Glencross and Olli Jokinen lit the lamp for the Flames, who have lost two in a row since a three-game winning streak.
Miikka Kiprusoff turned aside 21-of-27 shots. Henrik Karlsson allowed one goal on one shot in the second period before Kiprusoff came back in the game.
