Capitals Vs. Thrashers: Brooks Laich Scores First Goal Of Capitals Season

While the injury to Ondrej Pavelec still hangs over the ice at Philips Arena, the Capitals are off to a quick start, scoring their first goal on just their second chance of the game.

Brooks Laich, who scored two goals in the season opener for Washington last year, capped off a great passing play to earn the team's first goal of 2010. Tomas Fleishmann started the scoring play from just across the blue line. He passed to Alexander Semin at the near post, who found Laich standing all by himself at the far post. Laich made no mistake, cleanly finishing the play with a one-time strike.

The Capitals took the lead with just over three minutes gone in the season.
