If the Capitals' injury and goaltending carousel wasn't interesting enough, a new wrinkle has developed. According to head coach Bruce Boudreau via Capitals Insider's Katie Carrera, Michal Neuvirth tweaked some part of his lower body and missed Monday's game against New Jersey. Yet, Neuvirth could be back for Wednesday's game against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Neuvirth left the ice first during today's morning skate, which usually denotes the starting goaltender for that night. But Holtby led the time onto the ice before Monday's game. The Capitals recalled Semyon Varlamov from AHL Hershey, but his gear didn't arrive until the second period. Neuvirth sat on the bench as a backup until Varlamov arrived per permission from the referees and the Devils.
In other injury news, both Mike Green and Tyler Sloan apparently suffered injuries during Monday's game. Boudreau says that both defensemen will be reevaluated Tuesday.
