Tonight should be the night that the Capitals bounce back from their five-game losing streak. After losing four straight games at the Verizon Center, the Capitals are hitting the road and taking on the Rangers, who have struggled this season at Madison Square Garden.
Instead of bouncing back though, the Capitals instead had the disfortune of watching the puck bounce into their own net.
Towards the end of a very evenly played first period, the Rangers caught a break. Alexander Frolov fed Brandon Prust from behind the net. Prust took a shot that caromed off the skate of Tom Poti and into the net of Semyon Varlamov. The goal came with just over two minutes remaining before intermission.
