The Capitals Were This Close To Snapping Their Six-Game Losing Streak

New, 2 comments

The Washington Capitals had some good moments in their 2-1 loss to the Anaheim Ducks last night, but didn't come away with the win. It's cliche to say that they were close, but unlucky, and one could dismiss that as loser talk.

But in this case, the Capitals were literally inches away from winning the game. With four and a half minutes to go in the first period, the Ducks committed a terrible turnover in their own zone. Brooks Laich had a wide open shot on goal right in front of the net, and the puck trickled under the goalie. But it didn't go in, as Ryan Getzlaf poked if off the goal line at the last second.
