Are you ready for the best news you're going to hear all day? Actually, this might be the best news you'll hear this month.

Alex Ovechkin, who normally earns his living playing hockey for the Washington Capitals, will soon be moving from the penalty booth to the recording booth. The Russian news website Pravda is reporting that at some point in the future, Ovie will be recording a song with Eminem.

NHL's top paid player is a big fan of hip hop, and he is very happy that now he will have a chance to become a part of it with a legendary artist.

"It would be such an honor for me, because I am a big fan of Eminem. I always have his CDs in my car, and I would be very glad to meet him. By the way, Eminem's 8 Mile film is just great,"

There is no word yet on when the song will be recorded, or even what kind of song it will be. But I hope, for everyone's sake, that Ovechkin tries very seriously to rap along with Eminem. Ovechkin will join Ron Artest, Shaq, Kobe, Allen Iverson, Marquis Daniels and many others in the proud fraternity of athletes turned rap stars. With Eminem leading the way, hopefully he can prove to be the most successful of the bunch.

UPDATE: You might want to hold off on pre-ordering that new Ovechkin and Eminem song on iTunes. Nate Ewell, the PR man for the Capitals, has just tweeted that the story is most likely false, and that there will be no collaboration between Ovechkin and Eminem. Well, I guess it was fun while it lasted.
