It's Never Too Early For D.J. King To Get Into A Fight

When the Capitals traded for D.J. King this summer, they knew they were getting a guy who would get into his fair share of fights over the course of the season. But I'm not sure if they knew that he'd be getting into fights quite this early. In only his second shift of the preseason, King got into it with Shawn Thornton of the Bruins. You can see pictures of the scrum here.

Katie Carrera has King's take:

"I've been around long enough I think I've pretty much fought everyone in the league. It's bound to just happen over the years," said King, who added that while he and Thornton were in the penalty boxes he confirmed that it was the first fight of the year for both of them. "Always good to get that first one out of the way."

Anybody who talks about fights so cavalierly is a guy I want on my sideline. Welcome to Washington, D.J..
