Washington Capitals Injuries: Brian Willsie Recalled From AHL Hershey

With the news that Alexander Semin will not travel with the team on their two-game Floridian road trip this week, the Washington Capitals recalled right winger Brian Willsie from AHL Hershey Monday.

Willsie, an 11-year veteran, has 12 goals, 21 assists and a plus-17 rating in 36 games with the Bears this season. In 380 career NHL games, Willsie has 52 goals and 56 assists.

Willsie is no stranger to the Capitals; he spent the entire 2005-2006 season with Washington, scoring 19 goals and 22 assists in 82 games. Willsie has not played a full NHL season since.

He re-signed with the Capitals this summer with a one-year, two-way contract. Before signing with the Caps, Willsie spent the previous four seasons with the Colorado Avalanche, Los Angeles Kings and their respective AHL affiliates.

If Willsie suits up for the Caps this week, the team will have three recent members of the Colorado Avalanche on their roster; Matt Hendricks signed a contract with the Caps this summer after spending two seasons with the Avs, while the Caps acquired Hannan from Colorado November 30 in exchange for Tomas Fleischmann.
