Matt Hendricks Talks Role On Washington Capitals, Grocery Shopping

Matt Hendricks has become a fan favorite with Washington Capitals fans since making the team during training camp. And now he answers those same fans' questions on a new segment on Washington Post called "Ask The Caps."

Hendricks had some insightful things to say. He also had some off-the-cuff remarks, too.

On what he said to the Tampa Bay Lightning's Steve Downie after their fight January 4:

We were talking a lot about grocery stores and supermarkets in the area. He was looking for some Pedialyte after the game and he wanted to know where he could get some.

On whether he will continue to fight more often:

Yeah, I think so. I think that my role on this team and the lineup that we have kind of forces me into those situations. We don't quite as many guys like me in the lineup every night so I think that kind of forces me into those situations like I said. I don't mind doing it.

On what he would be doing if he wasn't playing hockey:

I went to college for biology, wildlife management. I'd like to work in the Fisheries Department someday. I don't know, we'll see. I'm trying not to think about that.

On what part of HBO's "24/7" that his family enjoyed the most:

The last episode that had to do with the game, the actual Winter Classic. The video of us going on the ice beforehand and all the surroundings at Heinz Field. They really enjoyed it.

Really, Matt? Because we all enjoyed looking at your face.
