The NHL All Star Game has completed it's first period, and as expected, it was a scoring fest.
The good news for Caps fans is that Alex Ovechkin wasn't left out of the fun. He started the scoring spree early in the first period when his slap shot deflected off of Duncan Keith, which then went past goal tender Mark Andre-Fleury. Caps fans had to be especially thrilled to see this goal come against the young Penguin goal tender.
From there Team Staal scored three more goals, making the score 4-0 at around the half way mark of the period. But then Team Lindstrom answered with four unanswered goals, tying the game up at four goals a piece going into intermission.
So far, Ovechkin is having a good weekend. After winning the Breakaway Challenge last night, he has already made an early contribution. With all the scoring going on, he'll need to keep it up in the next two periods if he wants to win the game's MVP.
