The NHL Winter Classic happened three days ago, and while it was a huge event, it was also just one game in a hockey season. Most teams that lose move on from the game and are focused on what lies ahead.↵
Not the Pittsburgh Penguins, though. After suffering a 3-1 loss in the game, the Penguins are still mad. Specifically, they're still mad at David Steckel's hit (if you want to call it that) on golden boy Sidney Crosby late in the second
quarter period. Here it is, in case you forgot.
(God, isn't that fun to watch? Of course it is).↵
Anyway, the Penguins are mad because the "hit" may or may not have been dirty. Crosby himself first said there was "no point" in talking about the "hit," but of course he then proceeded to talk about the "hit."↵
"How tall is Steckel?" Crosby asked. "I find it hard to believe that his shoulder hit me in the head ... at 6-foot-5 ... by accident."↵
Defensemen Brooks Orpik said the hit was "definitely dirty," and left wing Mike Rupp said it "wasn't a clean play." Maybe, maybe not. But all I have to say is this:↵
Boo hoo, Sidney. Do you know how many times Alex Ovechkin gets clobbered by defenders on a daily basis? Do you realize how many teams have guys specifically out to get Ovechkin? It comes with the territory. Get used to it.
