Michal Neuvirth Injury Update: Washington Capitals Goalie Reportedly Out Vs. Pittsburgh Penguins

When the Washington Capitals recalled goalie Braden Holtby from the AHL, it meant that another roster move was likely coming. Therefore, it's not surprising to hear that goalie Michael Neuvirth is not making the trip to Pittsburgh for the Capitals' game against the Penguins. Via Katie Carrera of the Washington Post:

Michal Neuvirth, who missed practice on Wednesday with a lower-body injury, did not make the trip to Pittsburgh.

That means that Tomas Vokoun will start for the Capitals, with Holtby as his backup. The Capitals and other NHL teams refer to injuries as "upper-body" and "lower-body," so it is unclear exactly what is ailing Neuvirth beyond that designation. Neuvirth started the Capitals' season-opening 4-3 win over the Carolina Hurricanes last Saturday before yielding to Vokoun for the team's shootout win over the Tampa Bay Lightning on Monday.
