Mike Green Injury Update: Washington Capitals Defensemen Has Ankle Injury, Agent Says

Mike Green suffered an ankle injury in the Capitals' 7-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, his agent said.

Washington Capitals defensemen Mike Green is suffering from yet another nagging injury. Green did not participate in the Capitals' practice on Monday and was seen with his right foot wrapped. Green's agent tells Stephen Whyno of the Washington Times that he twisted his ankle in the Capitals' 7-1 win over the Detroit Red Wings.

His agent, Craig Oster, told The Washington Times that Green suffered a twisted ankle on the play in which he got hit in the face with the puck Saturday. Green told Oster that he expects to play.

"It's a bit swollen, but he thinks it's fine," Oster said.

The injury happened on a play where Green was hit in the face with a puck when the Red Wings were trying to enter the Capitals' zone. Green said he is not sure whether he will play when the Capitals play the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday.
