Mike Green Injury Update: GM George McPhee Says Green's Ankle Injury Won't Linger

Via Stephen Whyno of the Washington Times, the Washington Capitals have brought their All-Star defenseman Mike Green on their road trip with them. He's not skating, and he is noticeably limping.

In spite of this, Capitals general manager George McPhee says he doesn't believe the injury will be a lingering problem. Green's ankle injury is serious enough that he has been trying -- and failing -- to wear his right skate over the past couple of days. Still, McPhee gave every indication that Green should be back soon.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau was able to provide a bit more of a timeline for the injury, saying that he hoped to get Green back in the lineup by next weekend.

The good news for the Caps is that they're continuing to roll along just fine in the interim without Green. It's still very early in the season, after all, and Washington has been on a run where they're making just about everything look easy.
