Bruce Boudreau Fired: Former Washington Capitals Coach Says He's Had 'Better Days'

The Washington Capitals fired head coach Bruce Boudreau on Monday morning, and statements from the team or from Boudreau himself have not been readily available as of yet. But Pierre LeBurn of ESPN has one comment from the former coach.

Boudreau paid the price for his club's downward spiral. Since starting the season 7-0-0, the Caps have gone 5-9-1 since -- including weekend losses to New York Rangers and Buffalo Sabres. Via text message, Boudreau declined comment for now when reached by other than to say he's obviously had "better days."

Capitals GM George McPhee will be holding a press conference at the team's training facility this morning at 11 am before the team practices at noon. I expect there to be more on Boudreau as that conference continues, and certainly some reaction from the players after practice, but we aren't quite sure when we will hear about Boudreau's side of the story until a little bit later on.
