Flyers Vs. Capitals: Scott Hartnell's Goal Gives Flyers 1-0 Lead

With leading scorer Claude Giroux out of the lineup, the Philadelphia Flyers' next leading scorer made sure to make his presence felt.

Scott Hartnell's goal late in the first period has given the Flyers a 1-0 lead over the Washington Capitals after 20 minutes.

Hartnell extended his career-high goal-scoring streak to six games at 16:16 when he got around Cody Eakin in the neutral zone and created enough space to fire what seemed like a harmless wrist shot past Tomas Vokoun for his 15th goal of the season. Jaromir Jagr, receiving hearty boos from the Verizon Center crowd, assisted on the goal.

The Caps failed to scored on two power plays and only have five shots on goal. The Flyers have 21 seconds left to work with on a power play with Troy Brouwer in the penalty box for tripping.

The Flyers are 11-0-0 when leading after the first period this season.
