The Washington Capitals will have the services of Mike Green when they close a three-game homestand against the Los Angeles Kings on Saturday. The defensemen will return to the lineup after missing one game and two periods when he was hit in the face by a slap shot in the team's win over the Penguins on Sunday.
Green and coach Bruce Boudreau both confirmed the news today.
Via Brian McNally of the Washington Examiner:
#Caps coach Bruce Boudreau and Mike Green both again say they expect the defenseman to be back for game vs. #Kings tomorrow afternoon.
There was a concern that Green may have suffered a concussion with the hit, but he was checked out by doctors and went through all the tests. He was held out of Tuesday's loss to the San Jose Sharks for precautionary reasons, but all along, he and the team has expected him to return to the lineup on Saturday.
Without Green, the Capitals fell 2-0 to the Sharks, their eighth shutout loss of the season.
