The Washington Capitals will not have defensemen Mike Green for the third straight game and fourth time in the last five games when they take on the San Jose Sharks Thursday night. Green will not play due to an ear injury suffered when he took a slap shot to the face in the first period against the Pittsburgh Penguins on February 6.
Coach Bruce Boudreau announced the news to reporters earlier today. However, Boudreau did indicate that Green's condition is improving. Green visited with a specialist prior to Wednesday's night game against the Ducks, and all the tests he went through checked out. Via Katie Carrera of the Washington Post:
BB said Mike Green will not play tonight but that his tests went well.#Caps
Green returned for a game against the Kings last weekend after missing one game, but has sat out in both games this week against the Coyotes and Ducks.
