This AP photo is one of the many pictures that currently is located on the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette sports page, and it sums up what was a pretty awful day for Pittsburgh sports yesterday. We all know about the Pittsburgh Steelers' loss to the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XLV, but it all started when the Capitals routed the short-handed Penguins 3-0 in a game that saw Alex Ovechkin react like this to Matt Cooke taking out his knees.

It's never really nice to revel in a city's misery, but screw it, we're doing it anyway. For one thing, we in D.C. aren't huge fans of Pittsburgh. It probably has a lot to do with the Caps-Penguins rivalry, but we've reached the point where it extends to the entire city as well. For another, we've had way too many terrible, awful sports days in this city over the last calendar year. For one day at least, it's nice to be able to say that another sports city has it worse. Call us haters if you want, but we're going to keep hating away.

(You hear that, Pittsburgh fans? Don't come back with a "what has D.C. sports done this year?" retort. We know our city, by and large, has awful professional sports teams. Doesn't mean we can't laugh just this once).
