Jason Arnott And The Other New Capitals Should Help Out On Offense

The Capitals had a few needs that they needed to fill as the they got to the trade deadline, and they made some moves that should help fill them. According to Mike Chen at SB Nation, the Capitals are one of the teams that got helpful pieces at the deadline.

Needed: It seems almost blasphemous to say this, but the Capitals need help scoring goals. Yes, really.

Got: On paper, Jason Arnott and Marco Sturm should add tremendous forward depth with goal-scoring ability to the Caps lineup. Same thing with two-way defenseman Dennis Wideman. Will that translate to goals? We'll see if major roster moves like these help or hurt the Caps' chemistry.

It's not really all that blasphemous if you've watched the Capitals play this year, actually. They needed depth at the center position, and Arnott should really be able to help there. Arnott has 13 goals and 11 assists for the New Jersey Devils this year, and could bring a lot of toughness to whichever line coach Boudreau decides to put him on.

The other two players will probably help as well, but not in the way that Arnott will. He is a goal scorer who plays a position that the Capitals sorely needed depth at. But his question about the chemistry is a valid one. We'll have to see how it all plays out.
