So much for "Rock The Red," huh? In preparation for their big game against the Chicago Blackhawks, the Washington Capitals have taken the ice wearing ... green. Yes, green. The reason? Well, St. Patrick's Day is next Thursday, and the Capitals desperately need to commemorate it. Or something.
↵Wearing green is a trend we see all over the place in sports, so I can't knock the Capitals too much for this. It just looks really, really strange. We immediately associate the color red with the Capitals, thanks to the marketing prowess of owner Ted Leonsis, so to see the team wearing a color that's so far removed from green is really odd. If you're looking for an obscure commemorate hockey sweater to add to your collection, you better go add this one now.
↵The Blackhawks, it should be noted, are wearing normal colors. Apparently, they forgot the St. Patrick's Day memo.
↵UPDATE: To clarify, these are just warm-up jerseys. The Caps are wearing their typical red colors for the actual games.
