Capitals Vs. Devils: Michal Neuvirth Earns Shutout In New Jersey With 3-0 Win

The same line that added the second goal for the Washington Capitals also notched the third as they defeated the New Jersey Devils 3-0 on the road to start up a new winning streak. And they needed only 12 shots to do it.

John Carlson started the play once again for the Capitals. Carlson thwarted a Devils attack in the Washington zone, then found Alex Ovechkin charging up the ice. Ovechkin faked like he was going to shoot, then sent the puck across the ice to an open Mike Knuble who beat Martin Brodeur again for his second goal and third point of the night.

Michal Neuvirth played a huge role in the win as he remained a perfect 4-0 against the Devils. Neuvirth saved all of the 33 shots that he faced tonight, including a point-blank one-on-one save against Ilya Kovalchuk. It was the fourth shutout of the year for Neuvirth.

With tonight's win, the Capitals have secured a share of first place in the Eastern Conference, as they are now tied with the Philadelphia Flyers with 94 points apiece, although the Capitals have played three more games than the Flyers.
