Spring training has just started around Major League Baseball, but it looks like Nicklas Backstrom is gearing up for the upcoming season as well. In the Washington Capitals' 3-2 win over the St. Louis Blues Thursday, Backstrom scored a goal with a home run swing, knocking the puck out of midair and bouncing it past Ty Conklin to tie the game at 2-2.
Backstrom would joke after the game that he has been recently working out with Washington Nationals third baseman Ryan Zimmerman. Perhaps Backstrom can teach Zimmerman something, like playing the kazoo.
