Braden Holtby Didn't Even Realize He Made That Incredible Save Last Night

We've already gushed over Braden Holtby's incredible stick save on Simon Gagne last night. It appeared to be the work of a goaltender who was completely in control of himself and his surroundings. But according to Katie Carerra at the Washington Post's Capitals Insider, at the time, Holtby didn't even realize that he had anything to do with Gagne missing that shot.

"All I could really see was he had a wide open net and missed it," Holtby said. "I was just thanking the hockey gods on that one. I got it with my blocker. I'm not sure if it would have went in or not. Thankfully it didn't go in."

Yeah, it didn't go in because you were able to get the save. But I do appreciate the modesty. It was the save of the night, and it might have given the Capitals the boost they needed to turn the game around. Between of his performance throughout the night, the incredible save in question, and the delightful bit of candor after the game, I'm starting to like this Braden Holtby kid
