VIDEO: Jason Chimera Goal To Complete Capitals' Comeback Vs. Rangers

You tired, Capitals fans? After what we just witnessed Wednesday night, how could you not be? The Capitals fell behind, 3-0, in Game 4 of their 2011 NHL Playoffs first-round series against the New York Rangers, tied the game up at three, then won it in double overtime on a play that did not seem threatening at all. Jason Chimera did the honors, as you can see here.

There really is no explanation for what just happened. On this goal, the Rangers had a miscommunication that kept the puck in front of goalie Henrik Lundqvist. Eventually, Lundqvist reached his stick forward, but his own man poked it behind him. There stood Chimera, who barely had to get a stick on the puck to get it in the back of the net and deliver the Rangers a crushing loss.

It fit the strategy the Capitals seemed to go to in the third period. Throw the puck in front of the net, hope somebody was there and keep standing around waiting for the Rangers to give them an opportunity. It was only fitting that Chimera ended up winning the game that way.
