VIDEO: Mikael Granlund Insane Goal Gives Finland Win Over Alex Ovechkin, Russia

Washington Capitals star Alex Ovechkin experienced postseason failure yet again, and it was in part because of this play by Mikael Granlund. The lacrosse-style goal here put Finland up 1-0 on Russia in the semifinals of the World Ice Hockey Championship, and it eventually led to a 3-0 Finland win. Ovechkin and Team Russia will therefore not make the WIHC Finals for the first time since 2007.

The goal by Granlund reminded many hockey fans of Mike Legg's legendary goal for the University of Michigan in 1996, and while it's probably not that impressive, it's still pretty incredible.

As for Ovechkin, the Capitals' star has yet to even notch a point for Team Russia during the tournament. His final chance to do so will come in the Bronze Medal game against the Czech Republic on Sunday at 4 p.m. Clearly, Ovechkin's year-long slump has extended even past the end of the NHL season.
