The historic news of Osama Bin Laden's death just so happened to occur on the same night the Washington Capitals had a pivotal NHL Playoff game against the Tampa Bay Lightning. If you've been around Washington D.C. at all in the last month, you've probably noticed a lot of Capitals jerseys. It therefore shouldn't be much of a surprise that many people who went down to the White House to celebrate Bin Laden's death did so in Capitals jerseys.
↵Some came from the game itself. Others came from their homes and were Rocking the Red because that's what they'd wear. Either way, there was a lot of Capitals gear out on Pennsylvania Avenue Saturday night, and they were cheering something that transcended a key hockey playoff game. For one night, we can all forget about the doomsday scenario of the Capitals being down 0-2 and celebrate something that truly matters.
