Washington Capitals Training Camp: Braden Holtby Recalled From AHL Hershey

Sunday, the Washington Capitals cut goaltender Braden Holtby and assigned him to their AHL affiliate in Hershey. Three days later, Holtby's on his way back.

Via The Washington Time's Stephen Whyno and confirmed by The Washington Examiner's Brian McNally, the Caps will recall Holtby Thursday.

The reason behind the call-up is uncertain. Michal Neuvirth started Monday in Washington's 3-1 win over the Columbus Blue Jackets and backed up Tomas Vokoun Wednesday against the Nashville Predators.

More information will be posted as it becomes available.

UPDATE: Via Whyno, Holtby is being called up because Neuvirth has a "minor injury and for precautionary reasons will be given a day off."
