The Washington Capitals are launching a canned food drive this month in an attempt to help end hunger in the Washington area. Joining forces with Comcast SportsNet, Mix 107.3 and the Capital Area Food Bank, the organization is asking fans of the team to donate one can of food to help them with their desired cause.
Fans can donate food by visiting the lobby of the Capitals front office at Kettler Capitals Iceplex Nov. 7-21, or at the Capitals front office any weekday between 9 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. to drop off your nonperishable food items (the office will be closed on Nov. 12 and will close at noon on Nov. 21).
All donations will benefit the Capital Area Food Bank, which is the largest public nonprofit food and nutrition education resource in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. The Capital Area Food Bank has served the region for 32 years and distributed 33 million pounds of food through 700 nonprofit partners last year.
