Capitals Vs. Blackhawks: Washington Trails 4-2 After Two Periods

The Capitals and Blackhawks have shared four goals in an entertaining second period at the United Center in Chicago. With 40 minutes played, the Blackhawks lead the Capitals, 4-2.

With the Caps trailing 2-0 at the start of the period, Mike Knuble cut the deficit to 2-1 at the 2:22 mark of the second period. But the Blackhawks answered at the 7:57 mark as Patrick Kane finished off a passage of play that began with a John Carlson turnover.

Chicago made the score 4-1 at the 11:33 mark as Andrew Shaw scored his second goal of the night on a wraparound from behind Michal Neuvirth's net. But Ovechkin responded by going on an end-to-end skate, which included a lovely drop pass between his own legs, before finishing past Corey Crawford to make the score 4-2. The goal was Ovechkin's 30th of the season.
