Jets Vs. Capitals: Jets Counter Alex Ovechkin's Two Goals With Two, Trail 3-2

Alex Ovechkin scored two goals, but so did the Winnipeg Jets.

Ovechkin's pair gave the Washington Capitals a 3-0 lead, but two quick strikes have the Jets only trailing 3-2 after 40 minutes.

The first of Ovechkin's goals came at 1:42 when he took a pass from Brooks Laich, curled into the offensive zone, used his defender as a screen and beat Ondrej Pavelec with a vintage goal, his 34th of the season. About four minutes later, as an extra attacker, Ovechkin rifled a snap shot past Pavelec for his 35th goal. He now has eight goals in his last six games.

Winnipeg, however, did not falter. Ben Maxwell and Bryan Little scored within 1:11 to cut a 3-0 deficit to 3-2.

Shots are in favor of 23-21 in favor of the Jets, who have the Caps on their heels.
