The turnaround time between the Capitals' Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series against Boston and the Eastern Conference Semifinal series against the New York Rangers has been mercifully quick, since it's spared us all the sight of poor Joel Ward trying to find new and entertaining ways to enunciate his thoughts on the unpleasant tweets that left a bad taste in everyone's mouth at the end of the Boston series.
Before leaving for New York and a Game 1 against the Rangers Saturday afternoon, the Capitals held a Friday afternoon practice at Kettler Iceplex and Alex Ovechkin was asked about Ward.
#Caps Ovi on Ward "He's strong and he's funny. He's right now Michael Jordan of hockey"

Huh. The comparison certainly isn't statistically-motivated. But maybe Ovechkin is on to something here. After all, if there's one place that Jordan loved to play, it was Madison Square Garden. Hopefully, Ward can make the comparison ring true beginning Saturday.
