Rangers Vs. Capitals, 2012 NHL Playoffs Game 1: Washington Falls 3-1 To New York In Series Opener

The Washington Capitals and goaltender Braden Holtby allowed two goals in a 90 second stretch on Saturday afternoon, leading to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of the New York Rangers in Game 1 of this 2012 NHL Playoffs second round matchup.

Chris Kreider blew by Roman Hamrlik at the 7:00 mark of the period for his second goal of the playoffs. Just a minute and a half later, Brad Richards lit the lamp for New York. It was Richards' third goal in eight 2012 playoff games. The Rangers scored three goals in Game 1 despite taking just 14 shots.

Jason Chimera scored the lone goal for Washington with just four seconds left in the second period, on a beautiful feed from Brooks Laich.

Game 2 of the series will be played at 7:00 p.m. ET on Monday night at Madison Square Garden.
