Today Is Bryce Harper's 18th Birthday

Earlier this week, the Nationals announced that Bryce Harper would indeed play in the Arizona Fall League. However, they said he wouldn't join the team until next week, because they felt a kid this young needed some time off.

What wasn't said explicitly by the team, though, is why Harper needed the time off. As it turns out, it's because he's celebrating a pretty big birthday today. As Nationals News Network Off the Field reminds us, today is Harper's 18th birthday. In another era, he could go out and get an adult beverage for the first time, but in today's era, the only thing he can really do is have some family and friends over, admire his faux hawk, get kicked out of his parents' house (okay, that's not an issue here) and just enjoy himself.

Regardless, here's our happy birthday wish for Harper. May he celebrate future birthdays as a member of a Nationals team that's advancing deep into the playoffs.
