We knew it was only a matter of time before someone capitalized on the amazing coincidence that new National Jayson Werth shares a last name with something that corresponds to money or the purchase of any other goods and services. The fact that he signed a contract that many felt was obscene in terms of dollars only made it more obvious that somebody was going to jump on the pun.
↵As it turns out, though, that somebody just so happens to be the Washington Nationals. I expected self-important headline writers to pat themselves on the back with a "Nationals Decide Jayson Is Werth It" headline, but I expected better from the team itself. This was the slogan that appeared in an email to Nationals' season ticket holders.
↵↵The new era is official Dunn. Dammit, my bad. I'm no better than the season ticket sales reps.
