Washington Nationals Trade Colin Balester To Detroit Tigers For Ryan Perry

The Washington Nationals and Detroit Tigers made a minor trade on Friday, swapping a pair of long relievers in the hopes that both improve with a change of scenery. The Nationals sent right-hander Colin Balester to the Tigers and received right-hander Ryan Perry in return, the team announced in a press release on Friday.

Perry is a 24-year old reliever that has a 5-6 record and a 4.07 ERA in three seasons for Detroit. Last season, he pitched in 36 games and had a 5.35 ERA while hurling in 37 innings.

Balester is one of the few members of the organization drafted when it was the Montreal Expos. The 25-year old went 5-16 with a 5.17 ERA in 62 appearances, including 22 starts, since 2008.
