Bryce Harper Not Ruled Out Of Playing In Major League This Season

New, 2 comments

Remember when Bryce Harper, the 18-year old No. 1 draft pick Nationals phenom, said his goal was to play in the Major Leagues this season? Remember how silly that sounded? Then prepare for even more silliness after this quote from manager Jim Riggleman. Via SI's Jon Heyman.

It's mostly a non-story, because thriving at "every level" is so inconceivable in a season where Harper will start at low-A. But of course, since it involves Harper, it's useful as a sign of hope that maybe, just maybe, he'll do something we never could have imagined.

In the end, he probably won't, but hey, you never know. As long as there is a chance - however small - that both Stephen Strasburg and Harper will be with the Washington Nationals in September 2011, we will get excited.
