I got so used to hearing Rob Dibble call Nationals games, that I almost forgot what a legitimate broadcaster sounded like. By the end of his tenure, I was waiting for him to mess up instead of actually listening to his take on the game.
↵He might not be as exciting, but new Nationals color guy F.P. Santangelo is one thing that Dibble never was, a truly professional broadcaster. And that includes, according to Kristen Hudak, not referring to the team as "we."
↵↵↵"It's never appropriate. I'm not wearing a uniform, so it's not we. It's absolutely against everything I've been taught as a broadcaster to ever say 'we' because I'm sitting up here with makeup on and a coat and a tie. So it's the Nationals and it will always be the Nationals on every broadcast I do."

Well isn't that refreshing. It's going to take a little while to get used to Santangelo calling the game. But I'm looking forward to hearing an announcer that compliments the broadcast, not dominates it.
