Well, this is bad news for fans of arguably the best fast food chain in the country (* prepares for In-N-Out backlash *). The Five Guys location at Nationals Park, a favorite among many, is reportedly closing down, according to DC Eater.
↵This is kind of strange, considering it was one of the most popular concession stands at the stadium for the last three years running. So why are they leaving? It's not clear, though a spokesperson did give a non-answer in a quote.
↵↵↵↵↵Said Five Guys spokesperson Molly Catalano: "We had a great time. We had some really loyal customers and we're very sorry that we won't be there."
↵
Sure, the lease was up, but it's weird that it wasn't renewed. One theory is that another Five Guys restaurant recently opened in Navy Yard, but Catalano told DC Eater that wasn't the reason. Alas, the fans who love Five Guys lose, and now we'll all have to hope a similarly good franchise moves in to replace them.
