Nationals vs. Cardinals: Game Washed Out, Nationals Prepare For Day-Night Doubleheader

Ominous, black clouds started to roll into the St. Louis area around 8 P.M and approximately 131 minutes later, the game between the Washington Nationals and St. Louis Cardinals was cancelled. Heavy rain, heavy winds and even some hail pounded Busch Stadium for two hours and eleven minutes and made a moat of water on the warning track. At one point even tornado alarms were sounded as a caution.

The Nationals now prepare for their second doubleheader of the season on Wednesday, a day-night variety, which will also be the second doubleheader the Nationals have had in four days. Game 1 will take place at 2:15 P.M. EST and Game 2 will be at 8:15 P.M. EST. The pitching rotation remains on schedule. John Lannan will take the mound in Game1 for the Nats while Jordan Zimmermann will toe the mound in the nightcap.

On Sunday the Nationals swept a classic doubleheader against the Milwaukee Brewers.
