Nationals Vs. Marlins: Adam LaRoche Blasts Washington To First Road Win Of Season 5-3 Over Florida In 11 Innings

The Washington Nationals (2-4) can rest easy, knowing they won't match their crosstown counterpart Wizards' historic road losing ways, winning in Miami tonight against the Florida Marlins (3-3) on the strength of an Adam LaRoche 11th inning home run and a dominant performance by the Washington bullpen. The Nats bullpen quartet of Tyler Clippard, Drew Storen, Todd Coffey and Sean Burnett combined to throw six innings of scoreless relief, striking out eight and giving up only two hits in relief of starter John Lannan.

LaRoche finished two for five on the night, and leadoff hitter Ian Desmond continued to break out of his early season zero for 13 slump, clubbing two more hits and adding two stolen bases as icing.

The tens and tens of Marlins fans in attendance saw Hanley Ramirez go two for five with an RBI and catcher John Buck continue his Nats-bashing ways with two more hits in five at bats against Washington pitching.

The Nats and Jordan Zimmermann head to Citi Field tomorrow to face Mets knuckleballer R.A. Dickey, hoping to turn tonight's win into a two game road winning streak.
