Bryce Harper Goes 2-4 In First Professional Game

Bryce Harper played in the Arizona Fall League, and with the Nationals in Spring Training, but he hadn't technically played a game as a professional baseball player until Thursday Night when he debuted for the Hagerstown Suns.

Harper had a single up the middle in his first at-bat, and then later in the game he pulled off this little display of selflessness. He then tried to steal second base, but was thrown out. But it allowed the run that he had bunted over to score from third on the play, so I guess we'll take it. Harper went 2-4for the game and left the stadium with a very professional debut. How did Bryce feel about it? Pretty good, according to Dave Sheinin of the Washington Post.

"Just another day in paradise," Harper joked after the game. "It’s a blast. It’s everything I’ve wanted to do."

All in all, a very successful professional debut. Hopefully we'll have a lot of debuts to talk about in the coming months.
